Cryofab, Inc. announced the next phase in its ongoing commitment to the environment, the planned installation of more than 400 solar panels. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this calendar year. The first step in the in reducing Cryofab’s energy consumption was installing thermal pane windows, resulting in an immediate energy savings. Together, the solar panels and thermal pane windows will reduce the environmental impact of the manufacturing and design facility.

Greg Grillo, Co-President of Engineering, describes the project: “With solar panels installed, up to 20% of the energy we use will come from a renewable source. Taking advantage of popular incentive programs means that installing solar panels that are good for the environment is also good for business.”

Cryofab currently recycles waste metals from its manufacturing operation including steel, stainless steel, copper, and brass. A particular focus is the efficient recycling of aluminum. Included in the recycling program is oil and cardboard.

To improve the safety of its operation for its employees and community, Cryofab has virtually eliminated chlorinated solvents, using more eco-friendly aqueous types.

Plans to increase energy efficiency using solar energy systems are underway, as is an exploration of high-efficiency lighting. Wood recycling is being explored to further reduce Cryofab’s environmental impact.
